North Fork Township Building Fire

On August 26th, 2024, at 10:50 P.M., the Stearns County Emergency Communications Center received a call of a barn on fire at 31862 Co Rd 18, in North Fork Township. The caller said they could see flames inside the barn, which had cows inside.

The homeowner, Brian Kollman, 58, entered the barn and found wet hay bales had caught fire. Kollman fought the fire with a garden hose until the Brooten Fire Department could arrive on scene and finish extinguishing the flames. The building only sustained minor damage, and no people or animals were harmed. Brooten Fire was assisted by Elrosa Fire and Glacier Ridge Ambulance Service on scene.
