Archery Range is OPEN!

The archery range was closed in October of 2023 because arrows were found on private property adjacent to the Mississippi River County Park. Whether it was caused by carelessness, improper use of bows, or some other negligence, it was decided that the archery range would be closed until further evaluation was completed.

Staff reviewed safety guidelines, best practices, rules, and regulations from State statues, DNR recommendations, and insurance requirements. An engineering firm was hired to complete an independent review of the archery range. All reviews showed the range is in compliance with safety regulations. However, additional safety modifications were implemented.

• A dirt berm has been put in place behind the archery bags.
• The archery lanes were moved closer together and at a different angle.
• Pergolas were installed at each archery station.
• Signs were added to remind archers that bows must be drawn so arrows are parallel to the ground.

We would like to remind everyone that this archery range is a PRIVILEGE. Please RESPECT facilities and others to ensure continued use.

Public Archery Range Rules

• Shooting Hours: 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset
• Practice Good Sportsmanship
• All persons must be clear of the range before shooting can begin
• Arrows must be shot from designated shooting line and must be aimed and released only at the targets
• All archers must shoot arrows at the same time
• All archers must retrieve arrows at the same time
• Archers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult
• Only target field points may be used in provided targets
• When searching for a lost arrow beyond the targets, place your bow in front of the target so that other archers are aware of your presence
• Remove all litter, take with you what you brought
• Please use the donation box as this helps maintain the range
• All Stearns County Parks Ordinances apply

The Archery Range is typically open from May to October. The Archery Range parking lot is located north of the main entrance at 41376 County Road 1, Rice, MN 56367.
