City to Host First-Ever Vending Support Day to Assist Entrepreneurs on May 18
Pittsburgh, PA – The City of Pittsburgh’s will be hosting its first-ever Vending Support Day on May 18, 2026 at the OneStop counter at 412 Boulevard of the Allies. The event will help provide direct, in-person assistance to aspiring and current business owners seeking a vending license. Vending businesses are any that sell or offer goods, services, wares or merchandise from a vehicle, food truck, trailer, kiosk, pushcart, stand, tent or table.
The event will run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on the first floor of 412 Boulevard of the Allies. It will provide an opportunity to support small business growth and foster entrepreneurship across the city, while providing practical instructions and information about the City’s newly modernized vending program that was released in March. Individuals will have the opportunity to meet directly with agencies to ask questions about vending businesses, receive professional guidance and confidently move forward with launching or expanding their business.
“We’re excited to launch Vending Support Day as an opportunity for vendors to connect directly with all of the regulators in one place,” said Monica Bender, Assistant Director of Licensing for the Department of Permits, Licenses & Inspections (PLI). “Our vending requirements are essential to protecting public health and safety, and compliance starts with education and strong relationships. This event reflects our commitment to working collaboratively to make it easier for vendors to do business throughout Pittsburgh.”
Several agencies will be represented and available at the event, including the City’s Departments of City Planning (DCP), Mobility & Infrastructure (DOMI), PLI, Finance, Bureau of Fire and Office of Nighttime Economy. Additional partners will be available as well to provide direct assistance to attendees, including the Urban Redevelopment Authority, Allegheny County Health Department and Duquesne University’s Small Business Development Center.
Individuals who come prepared with the required documents may be able to obtain a vending license and/or permit before leaving. While same-day health permits will not be available, experts will be onsite to assist with zoning approvals, tax compliance, location-specific permits and general business requirements.
“Vending Support Day sends a clear message to vendors that they are a valuable part of our business community,” said Melissa Hill, Planner with the Department of City Planning. “This is another step in the process of building trust with the small businesses that are vital to Pittsburgh and gives us a chance to hear from vendors about how we can continue to improve the City’s Vending Program over time.”
