Town Halls & Regional Solutions
Hello friends,
The 2019 Legislative Session is fully underway, and I wanted to take a minute to share some information with you.
First, Sen. Bentz and I will be hosting monthly Town Halls from the Capitol. We will be partnering with OSU’s Extension Offices and each county’s Chamber of Commerce. The OSU Extension Offices in Baker, Grant, Harney, and Malheur counties have been kind enough to allow us to use their “smart rooms” which will connect each county and the Capitol in a joint video conference. The first Town Hall will be on Wednesday, February 13th from 6am-7am (PST) and then will be on the first Wednesday of every month through June. If you would like to attend, you can find your county’s extension office listed below:
Baker County OSU Extension Office
2600 East Street, Baker City
Grant County OSU Extension Office
116 NW Bridge Street, Suite 1, John Day
Harney County OSU Extension Office
450 N. Buena Vista Avenue, Burns
Malheur County OSU Extension Office
710 SW 5th Avenue, Ontario
Second, we received word yesterday morning that Gov. Brown appointed me as the Convener for the Greater Eastern Oregon Regional Solutions Advisory Committee. For those of you unfamiliar with Regional Solutions, I’ll give you a brief overview. It is an approach to community and economic development which recognizes that the needs for the various regions in Oregon are vastly different. This approach allows local people to identify priorities and solve problems. I’m looking forward to working with the Committee to create unique and effective policies to encourage growth and economic progress for the Region. There are some big challenges ahead of us, but with the team we have assembled, I have no doubt we will be able to make great strides for all of Eastern Oregon.
As always, please reach out to our office if you have any questions and I hope to see you at the Town Hall next week!
Warm regards,
Lynn Findley
