House District 60 August Update
Friends,
I hope this update finds you well and that you have had the opportunity to get outside and enjoy the many events and activities that our district has to offer during the summer. I want to take this opportunity to give you an update on some issues that I have been working on during the past month.
Urban/Rural Tours
In order to begin to bridge the urban/rural divide that we tend to feel so dramatically in this district, I will be hosting Representative Margaret Doherty (HD 35 – Tigard & SW Portland) and Representative Andrea Salinas (HD 38 – Lake Oswego) August 20th – 22nd. I have been working hard organizing a tour that allows them to see a few of the unique assets that HD 60 has to offer. In return, I will be touring their districts August 30th and 31st. I have no doubt that we all have a lot we can learn from each other.
Coffee Hours

Drought Disaster Declaration
Lastly, as I’m sure you are all aware, we have had a very dry summer. Not only is this impacting the fire season, but it has been devastating to many crops and local farmers. Thankfully, the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture has issued a disaster declaration for many counties in Eastern Oregon, including all of the counties in House District 60; Baker, Grant, Harney, Lake, and Malheur counties. If you are a farmer or if know a farmer who has been affected by this drought, you may qualify for emergency loans. Farmers have 8 months to apply for this financial assistance. For more information click here. I have also attached a Fire Report that the Oregon Department of Forestry recently released. It has very useful information and I encourage all of you to review it.
As always, please reach out if there is anything that either I or my staff can assist you with.
Best wishes,
Lynn Findley
