BONNEVILLE – The Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail remains closed between Eagle Creek and Cascade Locks due to a Dec. 19 landslide after heavy rain.

The landslide left large boulders, trees and deep mud covering the trail, making it unsafe to use. Visitors are strongly discouraged from trying to get around this section. There is no alternate route for hiking or biking this section of the trail.

We are working to secure funding for repairs and will share updates when we have a clearer timeline.

For information about the trail and trailheads accessible along the way, visit the Oregon State Parks web page.

Most of the Historic Columbia River Highway, U.S. 30, and Interstate 84 are open. For information on other highway projects in the Columbia River Gorge, including the Multnomah Falls Viaduct repairs, visit the Columbia River Gorge Construction page.
