Traffic has shifted to the temporary detour bridge at Fish Creek

Construction continues on OR 86 near milepost 63 to replace the Fish Creek culvert. Crews have finished installing a temporary detour bridge and are now removing the existing roadway to make way for the new culvert.

Traffic has switched to the detour and will be controlled by automatic traffic signals operating 24/7. Use caution when driving through the work zone.

This project replaces a failing culvert, improves fish passage and provides a safe travel corridor for the public.

Crews are working Monday through Friday. The project is scheduled to be completed this November.

Guardrail upgrades continue Crews continue replacing nearly 7 miles of outdated guardrail along OR 86 between milepost 34 and 70.5. They are currently working between mileposts 60 and 70 and moving west. Traffic is controlled by an automatic flagging device during the day and travelers can expect delays up to 20 minutes. Crews are working Monday through Friday. The project is scheduled to be completed by November. This project will help make the road safer by removing and replacing outdated guardrail.

Funding information

While the funding crisis is having a profound effect on ODOT’s maintenance and operations, most construction projects will continue as planned. These projects are typically funded through separate capital programs, often with state or federal funds that are legally restricted to project development and cannot be redirected for maintenance or day-to-day operations. Delays may still occur due to a reduced workforce. Fewer available staff for traffic control, inspections and project oversight could slow down timelines or introduce challenges in project delivery.
