Road Work Alert

Skipanon River Bridge Repairs

You've likely seen our crews clearing vegetation and setting up the work zone to prepare for work to start on the Skipanon River Bridge.

To do this work, we need to close Fort Stevens Highway Spur Road on either side of the bridge for approximately 60 days.

You can expect:

Crews working during the day, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The 24/7 OR 104S full road closure to start on June 16 and last approximately 60 days.
A signed detour to get around the closure using OR 104, E Harbor Drive, Marlin Avenue and U.S. 101.
No pedestrian access across the bridge.
Construction noise and delays.

About Bridge Funding and Replacement

Our funding to maintain, preserve and replace bridges is limited by the structural revenue issue our agency faces. At the rate we're currently replacing bridges, it would take us almost 900 years to replace all of the bridges on the state highway network.

We will not allow Oregonians to travel on unsafe bridges, but as bridges age it will steadily cost more to maintain them. Over time these bridges will face weight restrictions and eventual closure without timely replacement.
