We’re updating Oregon’s State Rail Plan, which sets policies for freight and passenger rail, and we want to hear from you.

Why we want to hear from you
Freight and passenger rail services are critical components of our state’s multimodal transportation network. We want to hear your thoughts about Oregon’s rail system, suggestions for new Oregon rail projects, and ideas for improving existing ones. The survey also includes an interactive map where you can flag specific locations for safety improvements and service extensions.
We’ll consider your feedback while we update the rail plan this year. Our vision is a safe, efficient and commercially viable rail system that serves travelers, communities and businesses throughout Oregon.
The survey closes May 30, 2025. We’ll publish a summary of the responses on the rail plan update webpage by early summer 2025. We expect to complete the updated plan in fall 2025 and will present it to the Oregon Transportation Commission for adoption.
