EUGENE -- The Oregon DMV Eugene office at 499 Valley River Center will be closed to the public April 18 for a necessary facility repair. The office will reopen April 21. Our Eugene staff will work at other nearby offices that Friday to assist redirected customers.

During the one-day closure, you can visit the Springfield DMV at 204 N 30th St. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, the Junction City DMV at 235 W 4th Ave., which is normally closed on Fridays, will be open April 18 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for REAL ID appointments only. These appointments must be made online in advance. All other transactions will be redirected to other offices. Eugene drive tests scheduled for April 18 will also be conducted in Junction City.

You can also complete more than 20 services online at DMV2U, and renew your vehicle registration at the DMV Express Kiosk in the Fred Meyer at 3333 W 11th Ave. In Eugene. When we reopen April 21, Eugene DMV office hours will remain the same, whether by appointment or standby:

  • 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

We recommend customers always check the status of their DMV office before visiting.

As the May 7 federal REAL ID deadline approaches, we are seeing greater demand at many DMV offices. Expect longer lines and longer wait times than normal. At busier offices, once you have a ticket, ask if you can provide your cell number to receive text notifications, allowing you to leave and return when your number gets closer.

It takes up to three weeks to receive your REAL ID card in the mail, so if you are planning on boarding a plane on May 7 or in the weeks soon after, make sure you have REAL ID-compliant identification in time for your trip. You only need a REAL ID if you are 18 and older and will travel in the U.S. by plane after May 7 without a valid passport or other federally accepted identification. If you aren’t flying soon, consider waiting to get a REAL ID until it’s time to renew your credential.
