We appreciate your continued patience as we work to complete the Hall Boulevard overpass replacement in Tigard. We anticipate the newly constructed overpass to reopen in August. While we know this delay is frustrating, our top priority is ensuring the bridge is built safely and to the highest standards.
Our teams found a construction issue with the overpass late last year, which required a pause in construction while we worked with the contractor on a way to resolve the issue. While the fix is relatively simple, to implement it means lifting and resetting the beams. This requires planning and staging - as well as procuring equipment and materials - and took longer than anticipated.
The good news is we now have a path forward. Materials and equipment began arriving on-site last week, and work is now actively underway.
In the meantime, the temporary pedestrian bridge and signed detour will remain in place to support local travel. We ask all drivers to please use the designated detour routes and help keep our neighbors safe by avoiding cutting through local neighborhood streets.
The overall OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes project remains on track to finish by the end of 2025. We appreciate your patience and look forward to reopening this important connection on Hall Boulevard as soon as possible.

We are also getting ready for the final paving season of the OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes project. This spring and summer, crews will repave the entire highway within the project limits, including the new auxiliary lanes.
To complete this work safely and efficiently, there will be several weekend closures of all lanes in one direction of the highway at a time. We will provide advance notice of these closures via email as they are scheduled and post details on our website. Since this work is highly weather-dependent, please stay tuned for potential schedule changes.
Paving gets us one step closer to opening the new auxiliary lanes and completing the project on schedule by the end of 2025, resulting in a safer and more reliable highway for travelers.
The OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project will construct auxiliary lanes in both directions of OR 217 between Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and OR 99W. Auxiliary lanes are ramp-to-ramp connections on the highway that help reduce congestion by giving drivers more space and time to merge safely. This decreases conflicts, improves safety and the flow of traffic, and ultimately allows the existing lanes to work more efficiently. We expect up to 73,000 hours of travel time saved each year with these improvements.
We aren't just making improvements to the highway itself. We also need to make the area surrounding OR 217 safer for all users. In partnership with the City of Beaverton and Washington County, we are making targeted improvements to local bicycle and pedestrian routes.
