Rockfall cleanup at Rowena Bluffs on I-84 eastbound may cause delays next week

Rockfall along I-84 near Rowena

Traffic reduced to one lane on I-84 eastbound while crews remove large rocks

Starting next week, March 10-13, ODOT crews will be removing rocks that fell during the January storms east of Mosier at Rowena Bluffs on I-84 near milepost 74. When these large rocks fell, they filled the catchment area. If more rocks fall, they could end up on the interstate if these are not removed.

  • Work will involve closing one lane of eastbound I-84 so that large excavators can safely remove the rocks.
  • Eastbound travelers should expect delays up to 20 minutes Monday through Thursday 6 am to 4:30 pm.
  • Delay times may vary based on traffic.
