The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is establishing a new advisory committee dedicated to enhancing accessibility for people with disabilities. This Universal Accessibility Advisory Committee (UAAC) will serve as a vital resource for improving transportation across the state for people with disabilities. Some committee goals include:
-
Understand existing transportation systems and identify barriers faced by individuals with disabilities.
-
Educate on inclusive approaches for accessibility drawn from the collective experiences of the advisors.
-
Represent people with disabilities, advocacy organizations, and community leaders.
-
Collaborate with ODOT staff and other advisors to inform accessibility solutions.
Get involved: We invite members of the community to participate in this important initiative by applying to serve on the committee. We encourage people with disabilities, advocates, and interested community members to contribute their perspectives.
Click here to apply or for more information. For more information about the Advisory Committee and how to get involved, please contact us at OECR_UAAC@ODOT.Oregon.Gov. Together, we can create a more accessible transportation system for everyone in Oregon!
Applications are due by January 20, 2025.
