Starting Monday morning! Greenburg Road on-ramp to northbound OR 217 will close until Aug. 5

The Greenburg Road on-ramp to northbound OR 217 will close for 8 days starting Monday morning, July 29 at 6 a.m. Please note the change in start date from July 26 to July 29. During this closure, crews will reconfigure the ramp to ensure it seamlessly connects to the new, future auxiliary lane. The auxiliary lane will reduce congestion by giving drivers more space and time to merge safely when it opens in 2025.

Here’s what you need to know: 

• The Greenburg on-ramp to northbound OR 217 will close for 8 days starting Monday, July 29 at 6 a.m. The ramp is anticipated to reopen by Monday, August 5 at 5 a.m.
• Detour: Take the Greenburg Road on-ramp to head southbound on OR 217 and use the OR 99W interchange to return to northbound OR 217.

As with all construction, the closure schedule is subject to change. Check Tripcheck before you travel to plan your route and note the congestion levels.

The Greenburg Road on-ramp to northbound OR 217 will close for 8 days while crews reconfigure the ramp.

Upcoming nighttime directional closures

Later this summer, expect up to 14 overnight directional closures of OR 217 between Greenburg Road and OR 99W. These are needed for crews to install the horizontal support beams for the new Hall Boulevard overpass in Tigard. During these closures, all lanes of OR 217 in one direction at a time will close overnight in that section. Stay tuned for more information and specific dates soon.

What is this project?

The OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project will construct auxiliary lanes in both directions of OR 217 between Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and OR 99W. Auxiliary lanes are ramp-to-ramp connections on the highway that help reduce congestion by giving drivers more space and time to merge safely. This decreases conflicts, improves safety and the flow of traffic, and ultimately allows the existing lanes to work more efficiently. We expect up to 73,000 hours of travel time saved each year with these improvements.

We aren't just making improvements to the highway itself. We also need to make the area surrounding OR 217 safer for all users. In partnership with the City of Beaverton and Washington County, we are making targeted improvements to local bicycle and pedestrian routes.
