More information about the 2024 funding opportunity

This round there’s about $12 million available for eligible projects in “small urban and rural areas” of Oregon, which are areas with populations under 200,000. Eligible applicants are counties, cities, tribal governments, and local transportation agencies.

Examples of eligible projects include public transit, bike infrastructure improvements, low-emission vehicles or fuels, and intelligent transportation systems. You can also read an online PDF of awarded projects from 2023’s funding opportunity for more inspiration.

This is the second funding opportunity for the “small urban and rural area” funding from the Carbon Reduction Program. In total, the Carbon Reduction Program will distribute $82 million over five years to transportation projects in Oregon. The program is funded by the federal 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

The Carbon Reduction Program is one of several ways we’re working with federal and state partners to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation and address climate change in Oregon. Our data says that by 2050, we’re on track to reduce emissions by about 60%. Learn how we’ll get there on our transportation emissions website.
