Applications being accepted to improve walking, rolling and public transportation
March 25, 2024
To friends of walking, rolling and public transportation,
We're now accepting applications for microgrants from the Innovative Mobility Program!
Microgrants are available for up to $15,000 and are intended to support new and existing projects that improve access to public and active transportation for historically underserved groups. A total of $350,000 is available in 2024. We will accept applications on a rolling basis now through November 29 or until the yearly funding allocation is met. Although microgrant funding is not competitive, we have reserved $175,000 of funding for nonprofits and community-based organizations.
How can I apply or learn more?
Please review microgrant materials on our webpage to learn more and apply. IMP staff are also available to provide technical assistance with the microgrant process, helping with things like brainstorming, project scoping and budgeting, and more. To sign up for technical assistance, please schedule a meeting.
Who is eligible to apply?
- Local, regional, Tribal, and state government agencies (excluding ODOT).
- Public schools, school districts, colleges and universities.
- Transportation providers.
- Businesses providing community services.
- Nonprofits and entities with 501(c)(3) status.
- Organizations with fiscal sponsorship from a nonprofit with 501(c)(3) status or public agency.
What types of projects are eligible?
The Innovative Mobility Program has a special focus on social equity and helping members of historically underserved groups get where they need to go more quickly, affordably and safely. We want to improve safety and access for those who walk and roll, while also making it easier to use other transportation modes besides driving alone.
We can fund a wide variety of projects including events, demonstration projects, lending libraries and shared mobility services, and transportation needs assessments, among others. We encourage innovation, collaboration and creativity in meeting the needs of underserved groups across Oregon!
Will there be other funding opportunities through the Innovative Mobility Program?
We will be announcing additional funding opportunities soon, including a competitive grant program!
Thank you for your interest in the Innovative Mobility Program, and we look forward to working with you! Questions? Contact us at innovativemobility@odot.oregon.gov.
