Northbound I-205 Lane Reductions and Ramp Closures in mid-December

I_205 Project: NB I-205 Concrete Pours Aerial Shot

Northbound I-205 will be reduced to one lane, and the northbound OR 43 on-ramp and northbound off-ramp to OR 99E (Exit 9) will close for approximately 15 hours. This work allows crews to pour concrete for the new bridge supports.

Stay tuned for detailed information about the closures and detours in future alerts

Traffic Impacts

  • New: Starting Wednesday, December 6, during weekdays and weeknights for approximately four weeks. Crews will be performing utility work in West Linn on southbound OR 43 between Willson Street and Holly Street. No left turns will be allowed into or out of Burns Street.

  • OR 43 northbound single lane closure with trucks leaving and entering the highway.

  • Clackamette Drive single lane closure with temporary signal and flagger.

  • Local roads will experience lane closures and traffic restrictions during construction.

River Impacts

  • The Willamette River remains accessible during Abernethy Bridge construction; the Sportcraft Boat Ramp is open.

  • 'No wake' zones are in place until 2024 through the bridge construction area on the Willamette River.

  • River users will notice several large barges anchored in the river and are required to stay 200 feet away from them. River users are urged to use extreme caution, and all boats must travel between the green and red buoys.

Bike and Pedestrian Impacts

  • Ongoing: The pedestrian/bike path extending from McClean House in West Linn under the Abernethy Bridge to the Arch Bridge is temporarily closed for safety reasons, due to erosion issues. Signs are posted and a reopening date is not known at this time.

  • Bike and pedestrian routes through construction zones are in place. People walking and riding a bike need to use caution when traveling through the project area. Follow signs and stay alert.

  • OR 43 and OR 99E bike and pedestrian access restrictions.

Construction has started on the project’s first phase and will last through 2025. You can visit Tripcheck.com for real-time traffic impacts. Stay safe out there. Pay attention to signs and travel safely through the construction zone.
