August 10, 2022

To friends of Safe Routes to School,

Thanks to those of you who turned in Part 2 of the Safe Routes to School Construction Grant application. We very much appreciate all the time and work that has gone into this so far!

Overview:

  • We received 82 applications for Part 1 of the process requesting $80 million.
  • 56 of the more competitive applicants submitted a full application by July 31.
  • At minimum, we will allocate $26 million this grant cycle.

What happens next?

Staff and the Safe Routes to School Advisory Committee will take it from here:

  • August/September 2022
    • Staff will determine final score of applications and complete ground conditions reviews on all applications to flag any concerns.
    • Staff will contact any applicant whose application has been flagged and allow the applicant to mitigate the concern.
  • October/November 2022
    • The Safe Routes to School Advisory Committee will review applications.
    • November 17, the Safe Routes to School Advisory Committee will make a recommendation on which applications to fund.
  • December 2022/January 2023
    • The Oregon Transportation Commission will make the final decision about which applications to fund.
  • February 2023
    • Grant agreements are signed.
    • Staff will host a webinar on application scoring and the final list to answer any questions.

I look forward to touching base with you in the next several weeks as needed with any questions about your application.

With much gratitude,

LeeAnne
