82 applications have requested $80 million for next round of funding

To friends of Safe Routes to School,
Thanks to those of you who turned in Part 2 of the Safe Routes to School Construction Grant application. We very much appreciate all the time and work that has gone into this so far!
Overview:
- We received 82 applications for Part 1 of the process requesting $80 million.
- 56 of the more competitive applicants submitted a full application by July 31.
- At minimum, we will allocate $26 million this grant cycle.
What happens next?
Staff and the Safe Routes to School Advisory Committee will take it from here:
- August/September 2022
- Staff will determine final score of applications and complete ground conditions reviews on all applications to flag any concerns.
- Staff will contact any applicant whose application has been flagged and allow the applicant to mitigate the concern.
- October/November 2022
- The Safe Routes to School Advisory Committee will review applications.
- November 17, the Safe Routes to School Advisory Committee will make a recommendation on which applications to fund.
- December 2022/January 2023
- The Oregon Transportation Commission will make the final decision about which applications to fund.
- February 2023
- Grant agreements are signed.
- Staff will host a webinar on application scoring and the final list to answer any questions.
