Important dates for your funding calendar

Dear Safe Routes to School enthusiast,

Happy fall, everyone! We are excited to let you know about some grant opportunities coming in early 2022, so you can start thinking about your Safe Routes to School project and program ideas to help address barriers students walking and rolling to school in your community.

Below are the anticipated dates for the Safe Routes to School application solicitation for programs that will help communities fund things like sidewalks and pedestrian/bicycle education programs for kids: 

  • On January 18th from noon to 1:30 p.m., we will host an online workshop (register now!) including more in-depth information about the upcoming opportunity to fund or plan your next Safe Routes to School projects and programs.  
  • February 1- March 18, 2022: Applications accepted for Education grants, Planning Assistance, and Part 1 of Construction application 
  • May 1 - July 31, 2022: Applications accepted for Part 2 of Construction application

Please remember that the Rapid Response Grant Program is open now and accepting applications on a continual basis. 

Current information on the ODOT Safe Routes to School site focuses on the previous grant cycle and will help orient you. We will be updating the website with new application materials in January 2022. Thank you for your interest in making safe streets for our kids!
