Downtown Portland DMV to close for 2 weeks for expansion

The Downtown Portland DMV will be closed from Thanksgiving through Dec. 7 in order to expand the office for the area’s growing number of customers.

The office, located at 1502 SW Sixth Ave., will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, for the Thanksgiving holiday, and it will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10. The office’s business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday; except Thursdays when the office opens at 9 a.m.

The office will have a larger lobby space, upgraded customer counter stations, and an additional exit door for customer and employee safety. The project will also add a restroom that meets federal requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The remodel project will be completed during a second closure in early 2019.

The Downtown Portland office has been in its current location since July 1989.
