Weekly Construction Update:
February 24-March 3, 2018*

Interstate 5 – Pacific Highway – Exit 283 on-ramp (City of Wilsonville)

Project Description: The City of Wilsonville is making improvements to the I-5 southbound on-ramp for Exit 283 from Wilsonville Road.

Traffic Impacts: Nighttime lane closures on the southbound Exit 283 on-ramp from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekday mornings, until 8 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday. Shoulder closures during the day and night.

Interstate 5 – Pacific Highway – Paving and Auxiliary Lane

Project Description: This project will add a southbound auxiliary lane on I-5 from Lower Boones Ferry Road to I-5, add a second lane to the Lower Boones Ferry Road off-ramp from I-5 north, and pave I-5 from OR 99W to I-205.

Traffic Impacts:  Periodic shoulder closures on I-5 and ramps.

Interstate 5 – Pacific Highway – Interstate Sign Replacement

Project Description: This project will install, replace, repair and upgrade existing interstate signs and sign structures to meet current federal standards. The project area along I-5 will occur south of the Iowa Street viaduct and north of the OR 217 interchange.

Interstate 84 – Banfield Expressway – Regional Connections 

Project Description: This project is the next phase of ODOT RealTime, a system that provides real-time traffic information on roads to help travelers get where they're going more safely and efficiently. New electronic signs will be installed on U.S. 26 between I-405 and OR 217. During sign installations, there will be several full nighttime freeway closures. Work will be complete spring 2018.

Traffic Impacts: Double lane closures on I-84 (from I-5 to I-205) for eastbound direction Monday through Friday, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Interstate 84 – Columbia River Highway – Multnomah Falls sign installation

Project Description: This project will install a new electronic sign at the Multnomah Falls parking lot.

Traffic Impacts:  No traffic impacts.

Interstate 84 – Columbia River Highway –  Farley Slide

Project Description: The project will repair a landslide area to prevent future movement near milepost 48, just east of Cascade Locks. The work will include building a retaining wall north side of I-84 below the highway.

Traffic Impacts:  Expect rolling slowdowns for westbound I-84 from 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesday and Wednesday for tree removal. Expect long delays.

Interstate 84 – Columbia River Highway – Wyeth to Lindsey Creek

Project Description: This project is constructing the next phase of the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail. This segment will connect Wyeth Campgrounds to the State Trail at Lindsey Creek. Construction will occur through summer 2019.

Traffic Impacts: Expect an around-the-clock single lane closure for eastbound I-84 from milepost 51-53 until mid-May. Periodic shoulder closures.

Interstate 205 – East Portland Freeway – Glenn Jackson Bridge to Johnson Creek Boulevard

Project Description: This project will improve operations and safety on I-205 between Johnson Creek Boulevard and the Glenn Jackson Bridge. Construction begins in 2018. Learn more on the project website. Prior to construction beginning, crews will conduct geotechnical investigations to obtain more information about the physical properties of the underlying surface of the roadway, such as stability and drainage rates. Geotechnical drilling is being conducted so project engineers can confirm engineering properties for the design of ODOT’s new RealTime signs.

U.S. 26 – Sunset Highway – Cornelius Pass Road to 185th Avenue

Project Description: This project will widen U.S. 26 to three lanes in each direction between Cornelius Pass Road and NW 185th Avenue, replace the two Rock Creek bridges with one bridge, improve the north side of the Cornelius Pass Road interchange and build a sound wall on the north side of U.S. 26 in the Rock Creek neighborhood.

Traffic Impacts: Day shoulder closures on U.S. 26.

U.S. 26 – Sunset Highway – Regional Connections

Project Description: This project is the next phase of ODOT RealTime, a system that provides real-time traffic information on roads to help travelers get where they're going more safely and efficiently. New electronic signs will be installed on U.S. 26 between I-405 and OR 217 and on I-84 between I-5 and I-205. New technology will be installed on TV Highway from OR 217 to Brookwood Parkway and on local Washington County roads. During sign installations on U.S. 26 and I-84, there will be several full nighttime freeway closures. Work will be complete in spring 2018.

Traffic Impacts: Night and day shoulder closures on U.S. 26. Single lane closure for eastbound U.S. 26 from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. weekdays.

U.S. 26 – Mt. Hood Highway – Powell Boulevard Safety

Project Description: This project will make safety improvements on Powell Boulevard from Southeast 20th to 34th Avenues. Improvements include installing pedestrian activated beacons, new signs improved lighting, and crosswalk and sidewalk improvements.

Traffic Impacts: Daytime lane closures in both directions for tree removal.

U.S. 26/OR 35 – Mt. Hood Highway – ODOT RealTime

Project Description: Construction is underway on a project that will place 13 electronic message signs along U.S. 26 and OR 35. These signs are part of the ODOT RealTime system and will provide travelers with real time information so they can make safe decisions.

Traffic Impacts: Periodic shoulder and lane closures, weather permitting.

Oregon 8 – Tualatin Valley Highway – Regional Connections 

Project Description: This project is the next phase of ODOT RealTime, a system that provides real-time traffic information on roads to help travelers get where they're going more safely and efficiently.

Traffic Impacts: Single lane closures and shoulder closures on 185th Avenue, Cornelius Pass, Murray Road and Scholls Ferry Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

Oregon 99E – McLoughlin Boulevard – Harold to Harrison Paving

Project Description: This project will pave OR 99E in both directions between Harold Street in Portland to Harrison Street in Milwaukie. Also included in the project is replacing the Crystal Springs Bridge with a box culvert and reconstructing parts of the highway.

Oregon 213– Cascade Highway South – Highway repairs in Mulino

Project Description: Repair work is underway to install drains to create a path for water under the highway. Record setting rains reactivated an ancient landslide in March 2017. Roadway conditions will continue to change as additional movement of the landslide is expected.

Traffic Impacts: Travelers should be aware and look for traffic changes. One lane in each direction is open. Speed is reduced to 45 mph.
