Victim: Cade, Kathleen (W/F – 07/10/1952)
No suspects in custody
Narrative: On August 7th, 2024, at 6:45 p.m., officers were called to check the well-being of 72-year-old Kathleen Cade who was found at home in bed with a head wound. Initially it appeared Ms. Cade suffered some kind of laceration, and she was ultimately taken by ambulance to the hospital to be evaluated.
In a startling turn of events, hospital staff notified police after the evaluation, Ms. Cade’s injury was a gunshot wound. Investigators believe Ms. Cade was struck by a stray bullet which entered her room in the early morning hours of August 7th while she laid in bed. The round was believed to have entered her room from NW 36th Street. Ms. Cade sadly died from her injury in the hospital on August 14th at 12:45 p.m. The death has been ruled a homicide.
The investigation is currently in the early stages and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Homicide Tip Line at 405/297-1200.
