Last Call for Vendors!
The 13th Annual New Rochelle Street Fair is looking for vendors, businesses, food vendors, artisans, and performers to showcase their offerings and connect with the community on Saturday, September 19 in Downtown New Rochelle.
 Connect with more than 200 vendors and thousands of community members while promoting your business and reaching new customers.
Vendor applications are open, but space is limited!

Tag NR is Back!
Ready to clear out the clutter and make some extra cash? New Rochelle residents can sign up to be vendors at the Tag NR Community-Wide Tag Sale on Saturday, September 26, from 11 AM–3 PM at Anderson Plaza.
Showcase your gently used items and connect with shoppers from across the community. Booth space is $50, and registration closes Monday, September 14.

Register Your Neighborhood Association Today
The City recently launched a new Neighborhood Association Database to strengthen communication and collaboration between City Hall and local communities.
The database will help the City share neighborhood-specific updates, emergency alerts, public meeting notices and important community information directly with residents and association leaders.
Registration only takes a few minutes.

9/11 Remembrance Flags
The City, in partnership with the United Veterans Memorial and Patriotic Association of NR, will honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, by placing 2,997 American flags on the front lawn of City Hall.
Community members are invited to volunteer and help with the flag installation from Monday, August 31 through Thursday, September 3, from 5:30–8:00 PM each evening.
Join us as we come together as a community to help create this meaningful tribute and honor the memory of those we lost on 9/11.

9/11 Days of Service
From September 8–11, the City is joining Volunteer New York, Iona University, and Monroe University for 9/11 Days of Service, bringing our community together to honor the 25th anniversary of September 11 through volunteerism and giving back.
Come together with neighbors, students, and families to give back, support local nonprofits, and help address needs in our community—including food and clothing insecurity.
Join us, lend a hand, and make a difference! Registration is required.

25 Years Later: We Remember
Join the City of New Rochelle as we come together to honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. This year marks the 25th anniversary, a milestone that reminds us of the enduring importance of remembrance and reflection.
The City invites residents to join us for a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM on the City Hall Front Lawn, 515 North Avenue.

Got Paper? Need Shredding?
New Rochelle residents can safely dispose of confidential documents at the Westchester County Mobile Shredder on Saturday, August 29, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at 515 North Avenue, behind City Hall.
Residents may bring up to four file-size boxes (10” x 12” x 15”) of confidential papers per household for secure shredding.
Take advantage of this free service to clear out old paperwork while helping protect your personal information.

The Summer Sounds Concert Series wraps up the season at the historic Emil Paolucci Bandshell at Hudson Park with its final concert on Friday, August 28!

 The City is seeking community members to serve on the Immigrant Affairs Advisory Committee! The Committee advises City leaders on the needs and interests of New Rochelle’s immigrant communities, helps strengthen communication between residents and local government, expands access to public services and information, supports community programs, promotes civic participation and leadership, celebrates the contributions of immigrants to New Rochelle’s economic, cultural, and civic life, and fosters greater understanding among all residents.
Residents interested in getting involved are encouraged to apply and help shape a more welcoming and inclusive city.

Senior Citizen Housing Updates
New Rochelle is committed to helping older adults find safe, affordable housing and access the resources they need. The City works with local housing organizations and property management companies to connect seniors with housing opportunities and assistance.
Looking for senior housing? View the New Rochelle Senior Housing Buildings List and contact the management company directly for information about applications and availability.
Need help with your rent? The Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE) program may help eligible Westchester residents age 62 and older or those with disabilities who live in rent-regulated apartments and meet income requirements.

This free 10-week program offers residents a behind-the-scenes look at modern policing, with interactive sessions led by police professionals covering topics such as investigations, patrol operations, and community policing.

Deadline Extended
New Rochelle’s Hometown Heroes Banner Program honors local veterans and active-duty service members with personalized banners currently displayed along Main and Huguenot Streets in the East End.
To participate in the Banner program, submit a completed application, a photo of your military hero, and a copy of their DD-214 or discharge papers (if available). Banners are provided free of charge, though donations are welcome. Completed submissions should be mailed or delivered to New Rochelle Post 8 American Legion, Attn: Commander Dennis Starr, 112 North Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10801.
The submission deadline is September 1, 2026.

Hurricane Ida Renters Safe Housing Incentive Program
Renters impacted by Hurricane Ida may be eligible for assistance through the Renters Safe Housing Incentive Program (RSHI). The program provides support to help eligible households move from storm-damaged or flood-risk housing into safer, permanent homes, with up to $50,000 available per household.

Beware of Planning & Zoning Email Scams
The City of New Rochelle and Westchester County are warning residents and businesses about a nationwide scam targeting planning, zoning, and land use applicants. Fraudulent emails may impersonate government agencies and request payment for application renewals or fees.
Before making any payment, verify that the email comes from an official government address ending in .gov. Do not respond to or pay suspicious requests.
If you believe you have been targeted, contact your local police department and report the scam to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov.

Help Shape the Future of Recycling
Westchester County is encouraging residents to participate in a new countywide recycling survey aimed at improving awareness and use of the Westchester County Household Material Recovery Facility (H-MRF) and identifying opportunities to strengthen recycling services across the County.
Developed as part of a student-led sustainability initiative, the brief online survey gathers feedback on residents’ recycling habits, familiarity with the H-MRF and ideas for improving access to recycling resources. The survey takes less than two minutes to complete and will help inform future outreach, education and sustainability efforts throughout Westchester County.
