Section 8 Waitlist open until Monday, June 17 at 4PM
In order to provide additional housing assistance to the community, New Rochelle’s Section 8 waiting list has opened for the first time since 2020 to solicit eligible program applicants. The federally subsidized program provides rental assistance to local families that are either very low income, elderly (age 62+), or disabled. A local preference is given to New Rochelle residents and veterans in the aforementioned categories. Applicants will be selected through a lottery for placement on the Section 8 waiting list.
The City will be accepting new Section 8 applications, online only, Monday, June 10 at 9:00 AM through Monday, June 17 until 4:00 PM. This new application period, extending over a full week, is intended to maximize opportunities for our local residents to apply given the time demands of work, school, caregiving, and other schedules with off-hour and non-traditional commitments.
Applications must be submitted on-line at http://www.waitlistcheck.com/NY550 which will be available 24 hours a day during the application period.
For those needing application assistance during the application period, the City will be staffing walk-in sessions in both English and Spanish, at locations with free computer access around New Rochelle.
Join staff from the Department of Public Works to learn about 2024 projects, 2025 plans, and resources for property owners at one of the upcoming Council District meetings: THIS WEEK: No meetings.
