SANTA FE, NM – Today, Santa Fe County Community Services Department in partnership with New Mexico Solutions, kicked off a new service to provide support to individuals with chronic mental illness and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“My team recognized the immediate need during this health emergency, particularly for those with chronic mental illness,” explained Santa Fe County Community Services Director, Rachel O’Connor. “In alliance with Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s Orders on social distancing, the County along with New Mexico Solutions will provide assistance to all those who need it, using methods which do not require face-to-face interactions.”
New Mexico Solutions Executive Director David Ley stated, “We will be implementing a telephonic support program that will focus on outreach, telephonic counseling services, and referrals.” Target populations will include those with chronic mental illness that are homeless, individual and family referrals and referral from service agencies who provide support to individuals in our communities. New Mexico Solutions will partner with medical providers to assist in accessing medication support when appropriate.
