Domestic Extremists Engage in Targeted Attacks |
|
|
A new NJOHSP assessment concludes that recent targeted threats in New Jersey and across the nation reinforce the findings of the NJOHSP 2025 Threat Assessment that highlights the persistent danger posed by lone offenders who aim to target high-ranking officials associated with corporations, political parties, and government policies.
These extremists have various motives, such as the desire to spread their violent beliefs, encourage others to carry out similar attacks, and start a second civil war to speed up the breakdown of society.

NJCCIC: Threat Actors Spotted With Hand in Microsoft’s Cookie Jar
The New Jersey Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Cell's (NJCCIC) email security solution has observed a phishing campaign aimed at harvesting Microsoft account credentials, multifactor authentication (MFA) tokens, and associated session cookies. Messages in this campaign appear to come from DocuSign, Edward Jones, or American Family Insurance.
A file opens upon clicking the provided link but the document is blurred. Users will be requested to enter Microsoft credentials into an official-looking login page. While it may appear to be a legitimate website, the credentials entered are forwarded to the threat actors. If this sign-in request is approved through a legitimate application, threat actors can capture the session cookie, allowing them access and bypassing the need for MFA.
To avoid this phishing campaign or others like it, refrain from answering unsolicited calls and messages from unknown contacts, reject unexpected MFA code requests you did not initiate, and avoid demands for sensitive information, account access, or monetary value, especially those with urgency.
For more information, view the NJCCIC's latest alerts and advisories.
