MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
Come march with us! Our township’s annual Memorial Day Parade is set for Monday, May 25, 2026 at 9 a.m. from the CHS parking lot – and we want your Maplewood-based groups to march with us!
Veterans, high school marching bands, scout troops, rec youth teams and service clubs – all are encouraged to participate! A ceremony guided by elected officials will cap the parade at 10 a.m. at Town Hall.

As Kermit would say, it ain't easy bein' green. For the 18th year running, the Arbor Day Foundation named Maplewood, New Jersey a Tree City USA in honor of its commitment to plant, grow, and maintain trees to benefit its community. Our beautiful parks, green spaces, trees & landscaping are truly a sight to behold all year long.

MAYFEST
Springfield Avenue’s annual MayFest returns this Sunday, May 17! Join us for food, fun, activities, shopping & music as we close off Springfield Avenue to foot traffic only between Indiana and Rutgers, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This year, a special treat - the NY/NJ Host Committee World Cup Double Decker Bus will be parked at the Yale Street lot during MayFest, hosting games, photo ops & more.

LAVENDER GRADUATION
Join us Friday, June 5, 2026 at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.) in the Columbia High School auditorium for our annual MAPSO Lavender Graduation, honoring LGBTQ+ and allied 2026 graduates from across the state. All graduating seniors are welcome to participate as we come together to uplift inclusion, support & belonging.
Afterward, come dance the night away at the MAPSO Lavender Ball on Friday, June 5 at 7:30pm at The Woodland! This inclusive evening offers LGBTQ+ and allied teens, ages 14–19, a safe place to connect, dance, & celebrate.

GUN VIOLENCE AWARENESS DAY
Join us on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 4:30 p.m., for the 12th anniversary of National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
We invite everyone in MAPSO to #WearOrange as we join in community with families, local elected leaders & gun safety advocates to demand a future free from gun violence.

COMMUNITY FOOD ACCESS +
A major focus of the new Maplewood Health Department and Community Support Center, located at 129 Boyden Avenue, is expanding food access.
Beginning the week of May 18th, the Township will partner with United Community Corporation (UCC) to launch Community Food Access+ at 129 Boyden Avenue. Community Food Access + replaces the Community Fridge at the Indiana Street Municipal lot (closing May 17th), and is designed to provide more reliable and equitable food distribution, along with connections to additional support services. The Health Department will also host a Summer Meals Program for children and teens 18 and under from June 22 through August 14.

 MUSIC FOR KIDS: Music for Kids, a project of the Maplewood Library, in cooperation with members of the Maplewood Arts Council, is a series of interactive musical adventures designed for children ages five to ten years old, but open to all ages. CALL FOR ARTISTS FOR VILLAGE MURAL PROJECT: Maplewood Village Alliance (MVA) is inviting artists to submit proposals for a new temporary public mural project in the heart of Maplewood Village. The site-specific mural will be installed at Village Coffee, located at 164 Maplewood Avenue, and is intended to celebrate the creativity, vibrancy, and community spirit that define Maplewood while complementing the historic charm of the Village.
EVENT COORDINATOR: We are looking for an experienced Event Coordinator to join the Township of Maplewood’s Division of Arts & Culture.
