Severe Weather Alert: Flood Watch in Effect

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for all of New Jersey, including Maplewood, from Thursday, July 31 at 2:00 PM through 8:00 PM. Maplewood is currently in an area identified as having the highest risk for severe flooding.

Forecast Details:

• Widespread rainfall of 1.5” to 3”, with localized totals up to 5”

• Rainfall rates may reach 2” to 3” per hour

• Thunderstorms and flash flooding are possible

Safety Advisory:

• Avoid driving through flooded roads 

• Secure outdoor items and check storm drains near your property

• Monitor local alerts and weather updates via National Weather Service or NOAA Weather Radio

• In case of emergency, dial 911
