Big or Small, Falls are Always a Big Deal
Falls are one of the leading causes of serious workplace injuries, and not from roofs or high rises.
Most fall incidents happen during routine tasks, from just a few feet off the ground.
Avoid Top Hazards
Steps and Stairs Be alert for uneven or slippery conditions, missing handrails or lighting, and avoid carrying items that limit visibility or handrail use
Ladders Use the right ladder and inspect it before use. Set it up and secure it properly, and keep your hands free while climbing
Scaffolds Use proper access only, ensure guardrails and platforms are secured, and do not work on scaffolds set up on unsafe surfaces or in poor conditions (slopes, wind, weather) |
Small Habits That Prevent Big Injuries
-
Take a moment to assess each climb, even for short tasks
-
Maintain three points of contact at all times
-
Keep walkways clear, and speak up about damaged equipment or poor lighting
-
Use handrails and take your time going down, most falls happen on the descent
Why It Matters
Falls don’t just hurt your workers; they affect their families, their income, and their lifestyle. A fractured wrist or sprained back can sideline someone for months. A safe climb is part of a safe culture.
Help your team slow down, check conditions, and work smart every step of the way. That’s how we protect our people, and the families waiting for them at home.
