Let's Take a Smarter Approach to Workplace Safety
We're encouraging North Dakota workplaces to go beyond checklists and compliance. It’s time to make safety a shared value that we practice daily, not just talk about in training.
Workplace injuries don’t just impact individual employees. They cause lost productivity, schedule delays, staffing shortages, and long-term business disruption. But the best prevention doesn’t come from a rulebook. It comes from a strong safety culture, one where safety is part of how people work, lead, and look out for each other.

Make a safety culture stick:

Set the tone early. Use onboarding to establish safety as a core expectation, not just a policy.
|
|
|

|
Involve every level. Invite employee feedback, encourage reporting, and recognize proactive behavior.
|
|
|

|
Keep improving. Learn from near-misses, update procedures often, and keep them easy to access.
|
|
|
 |
|
Support whole-person wellbeing. Fatigue, stress, and burnout are safety issues, too.
|
|
|
 |
|
Don’t overlook driving. Both on and off the clock, roadway safety impacts your workforce. |
