Michael Mulligan is Named Telecommunicator of the Year
Congratulations to 911 Telecommunicator Michael Mulligan (Emergency Communications) for recently being named Telecommunicator of the Year by his colleagues. This award honors a team member who demonstrates unwavering dedication, compassion, and professionalism. It recognizes individuals who care deeply for their coworkers, show integrity in their work, remain calm under pressure, and consistently put others first.
Mike has trained almost all of the law dispatchers in the department, generously sharing his knowledge, experience and time. He is not only a great teacher but also someone you can always count on. During Helene, Michael worked tirelessly to support Yancey County, making calls, using personal connections, and taking multiple trips to help in any way he could. He is always the first to step up when someone is in need. Michael brings not only skill and professionalism to the job, but also positivity, mentorship and heart.

Retirement Celebration for Debbie Purser on Thursday
Debbie Purser (Library) is retiring after 25 years with Union County! You're invited to drop in during a retirement celebration for her on Thursday, May 22, between 2-4 p.m. at the Monroe Library.
Debbie started in the Clerk's office in 2000 and transferred to the Library in 2004 as the Facilities Coordinator, where she has stayed until now. We thank Debbie for her dedication to Union County and library patrons!
