Sheriff's Office App Now Features Adoptable Animals

UCSO App with Animal Adoption & Services Highlighted

The Union County Sheriff's Office's free smartphone app now offers an enhanced Animal Adoption and Services feature. This new feature allows app users to view all of the animals within our Animal Shelter that are currently available for adoption. Animal Shelter hours, adoption fees, and volunteer information can also be found under this new feature.

If you haven’t already, be sure to download the free app (AndroidApple/iOS).

Deputy Receives School Resource Officer of the Year Award

Union County Sheriff's Office Deputy Michael Gallagher has been named the 2023-2024 Union County Public Schools School Resource Officer of the Year. It is Gallagher's third year at Sun Valley High School. Read more about the recognition.

Sheriff Eddie Cathey thanks UCPS for recognizing a member of the UCSO family and for the district's continued partnership to keep students, staff members and school campuses safe.

Union County Employees Collect 455 Pounds of Litter

Several Union County employees volunteered to pick up litter from roadways in Monroe and Wingate as part of the N.C. Department of Transportation's Spring Litter Sweep. Employees collected 455 pounds of litter from along Goldmine Road in Monroe and Summerlin Dairy Road in Wingate.

Southwest Regional Library Celebrations

The opening of the Southwest Regional Library was quite a success! Last Friday on opening day, more than 600 patrons visited the new library. Saturday's grand opening celebration brought more than 2,000 visitors and we issued more than 330 new library cards!

Thrive! Union Symposium Highlights Strategies to Address Affordable Housing

Union Symposium to tackle one of the region's most pressing challenges: making affordable housing attainable for everyone. This pivotal event, aligned with the Healthy Union Advisory Coalition, brought to light the critical housing challenges faced by our community, particularly among essential workers like teachers and first responders. Free Documentary Screening & Veteran Support Event

"The Veteran’s Battlefield," a powerful film highlighting the struggles and triumphs of our veterans, will be shown at the Dowd Center Theatre on Thursday, May 2. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the screening begins at 7 p.m. This is a free event open to the public. Don't miss this opportunity to learn, connect and show your support.

The event will also offer an opportunity for veterans and their families to meet with several community partners offering valuable resources.
