Wear Orange for Gun Violence Awareness Rally Friday, June 6
On Friday, June 6, join elected officials and local community leaders from 12 to 1 p.m. at Peace & Justice Plaza for a rally and flag raising in support of Gun Violence Awareness/Wear Orange Day. Wear Orange Day is a campaign to demand a future free from gun violence. Safe storage of firearms is one of the best ways to protect your loved ones from hurting themselves or others.

Traffic Alert for UNC Baseball's Super Regional
For the second year in a row, North Carolina baseball is hosting a super regional round of the NCAA DI baseball tournament at Boshamer Stadium on campus. Expect increased traffic in town on Friday, June 6, Saturday, June 7, and possibly Sunday, June 8. Go Heels!

International soccer is back, and Chapel Hill will once again welcome thousands of fans for the friendly match between Mexico and Turkey at Kenan Stadium. Downtown will be busy, so give yourself extra time to get where you're going. If you're going to the game, park at the 125 E. Rosemary Deck. (Special event pricing begins at 8 a.m.)

Planning Director Wins Exemplary Service Award
The International Town and Gown Association (ITGA) awarded Planning Director Britany Waddell the Exemplary Service Award. The award recognizes her “commitment to service through significant, continued, and unselfish service/leadership activities that have benefited the town-gown community, the profession, ITGA, and the profession’s practice on the state and national level." Congrats, Britany!

Chapel Hill Fire Installs/Checks Smoke Alarms
Thanks to some Chapel Hill Fire folks who installed and/or tested smoke alarms in a Chapel Hill neighborhood this week. Fire Marshal Chris Wells told the crews, "Think of these folks as your family...because these smoke alarms have the potential to save a life." Nice work, y'all!

Promenade for Pride
The 4th annual Chapel Hill Pride Promenade is this Saturday, June 7. Gather at Peace & Justice Plaza at 12pm. After hearing a few featured speakers, we'll walk together to 140 West Franklin Plaza for a street market with 30+ art vendors and nonprofits, drag performers, music, a community mural, and opportunities to win merch. We encourage visitors to park at the 125 E. Rosemary St. parking deck for easy access to the celebration.

Grab Coffee with a Cop on June 10
The Chapel Hill Police Department invites you to Coffee with a Cop on Tuesday, June 10, at Merritt's Store and Grill at 1009 S. Columbia St. Our Guardians will be there from 8 to 9:30 a.m. with coffee. The mission of Coffee with a Cop is to break down barriers between police officers and the community they serve.
