(HELENA)---The Montana State Library is pleased to congratulate 30 libraries throughout our great state with the Excellent Library Service Award (ELSA). This marks the 12th and final year of the ELSA. These libraries were recognized by the State Library Commission at their meeting on March 26 and at the Montana Library Association’s Awards Dinner at the state’s annual conference on March 28.

Applicants were asked to meet several of a variety of different goals in 6 different focus areas of library excellence- among them professional development, collaboration, programming, and planning and evaluation. Sarah Peterson, director of Miles City Public Library, said of winning the accolade: “This is truly a meaningful award. We're proud to be recognized as a library that supports our community with programs, services, and freedom to read.”

What they have in common is the commitment to serve their communities with the very best library services and a passion and drive meet their patrons’ information needs.” said Jennie Stapp, Montana’s State Librarian.

The Statewide Consulting Program promotes continued excellence in libraries and library services through direct support to library administration, including providing information and resources to local library trustees, directors, and staff with the continuing education needed to be exceptional, excellent libraries in their communities.
