Connecting with Local Government Officials Series
Do Public Libraries Help Mitigate Crime?
- Wednesday, April 16
- 11:00 - Noon
Join us for the fifth installment in our series on Connecting with Local Government Officials.
Libraries provide physical and digital spaces where community members connect with one another, information, and ideas. The library's role in helping with literacy and success in school has been shared in previous webinars. In this installment of our webinar series, we will explore the idea of whether libraries help with public safety.
Dr. Amir B. Ferreira Neto led a study that examined the relationship between public libraries and crime rates. He and his colleagues were curious about the impact cultural institutions might have on crime rates. During this webinar, he will share how the group conducted their study and their findings.
