Through HB 192 [bills.legmt.gov] the Montana Clerks and Recorders are seeking to increase their fee and to add an inflationary factor so that the fee will keep pace with future costs.
Last week we were notified by the Montana Clerks & Recorders Association of a proposed amendment to HB192. This proposed amendment would essentially increase both the county land information accounts and the Montana Geospatial Information Account.
The proposed amendment would increase $1 in total, to be applied in a 75/25 split, to the current fee structure, starting October of 2025. This increase would be shifted from the current requested increase.

In addition to the increase in fees, the proposed amendment to allow for biennial inflationary increases, starting 2027.
