The Western Heritage Center in Billings has contributed a new collection of Oral Histories. They have hopes of adding to the collection in the future, but for now it is an excellent set of interviews, and we are happy to showcase this new content.

The Communities with Disabilities Oral History Project, with original support from Humanities Montana, shares the stories, experiences, and perspectives of people living with disabilities. Focused on south-central Montana, these stories include information from across the region and reflect the changing faces of disability.

Get your story submitted today! The Montana History Portal 5th Annual Historical Picture Prompt contest ends today. Enter before midnight. Using any photo in the Portal collection as a story prompt participants will write a fictional short story (650 words or less) and enter through our submission form. Winners will be chosen from grades 3-6, grades 7-12, and adult. The deadline to enter is February 21, 2025.
