The State Library's Montana Geospatial Information Act (MGIA) Grant Program is now accepting applications for the state fiscal year 2025 grant cycle. All applications submitted by 5:00 p.m. February 29, 2024 will be considered for funding.
The MGIA Grant Program is to assist state agencies, local governments, and Tribal governments with geospatial projects that align with MGIA, the Geospatial Information Plan, & defined MGIA Grant Program Priorities.
The Montana Geospatial Information Act ensures digital geospatial information is collected consistently, maintained accurately in accordance with standards, and made available in common ways for all potential uses and users, both private and public. All data and tools created or updated with MGIA Grant Program funds must be made publicly available.

- Applications will be submitted using Microsoft 365, including SharePoint.
- Applicants & their partners are highly encouraged to attend the MGIA Grant Writing Seminar Series #2 on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 (see below).

- Grant Year: July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025
- Mandatory Grant Awardee 2-day Training in Helena:
- Week of July 22-26, 2024 (exact dates tbd)
Eligible Applicants:
- Any department, agency, board, commission, or other division of state government including the Montana University system,
- Any city, county, or other division of local government,
- A Tribal government/entity within the state of Montana
