New Video on Interpreting and Using Environmental Summary Reports

Weed Coordinators,

The Montana Natural Heritage Program (MTNHP) has released a Video on Interpreting and Using Environmental Summary Reports  This hour-long video provides an overview of how to interpret and use an Environmental Summary Report in environmental review, permitting, or planning processes. Environmental Summary Reports summarize information on species, surveys, land cover, wetland and riparian mapping, land management, biological reports, and invasive and pest species documented or potentially occurring in an area of interest and are intended to be a document of record in National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Montana Environmental Policy Act (MEPA), and other environmental review, permitting, and planning efforts.  These are also intended for use in Noxious Weed Trust Fund grant applications.

You can set up a Map Viewer account to directly access Environmental Summary Reports yourself by clicking on the Sign In link at the upper right of the task selection screen, then click the Create Account button and enter a user profile taking note of the character limits for username.  As with other training videos for tasks in the Map Viewer web application this video can also be accessed under the Help menu near the upper left of the application or by clicking on the question mark in the upper right of individual task selection buttons on the task selection screen; in this case under the Environmental Summary Report task under the Pro Tips section.

If you have questions about interpreting and using Environmental Summary Reports or on accessing the information you need from any of the other tasks in Map Viewer, please contact Bryce Maxell at bmaxell@mt.gov
