Protecting Yourself from Avian Influenza

  • Avian Influenza is a disease that spreads seasonally among wild birds, and can cause serious illness among domestic birds, including backyard flocks.
  • Bird-Flu spreads among birds, animals, and people through airborne transmission or by contact with infected animals or contaminated objects.
  • Individuals at increased risk of encountering sick birds include hunters, poultry raisers, and those living near bodies of water. If you find a sick bird, avoid contact and call your veterinarian!
