Minneapolis Police Investigating Fatal Overnight Shooting

November 3, 2025 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced police are investigating an overnight shooting that left one dead.

At approximately 10:48 p.m. on November 2nd, 2025, Fourth Precinct Officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 2900 block of Russell Avenue North. Officers arrived and found a juvenile male who had been shot. He was declared deceased on scene.

Initial information indicated that the individual had suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A short time later, officers received information that the victim may have been shot by another male.

Minneapolis police officers took a juvenile male into custody who was a person of interest.  That juvenile was later booked into the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center for murder. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances around the shooting.

“Our thoughts are with the family of this young person tonight,” said Chief O’Hara. “As a father myself, I cannot imagine the pain this family is experiencing. We are working to determine the circumstances of what occurred.”

Forensic Scientists processed the scene and collected evidence.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased along with the official cause and manner of death.

Case number: 25-318694
