Minneapolis Police Investigating Overnight Shooting

November 1, 2025 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced one person was killed and two others were injured during an overnight shooting.

At approximately 2:38 a.m., officers in the area of 5th Street Southeast/13th Avenue Southeast heard two bursts of automatic gunfire. Officers found two males at the intersection with gunshot wounds. Officers found a third victim with gunshot wounds in the alley behind 1235 4th Street Southeast.

Officers began providing immediate medical aid to all three victims including CPR and applying a tourniquet. One male found at the corner of 5th Street Southeast/13th Avenue Southeast was pronounced deceased at the scene. One adult male and one juvenile male were transported by EMS to the hospital with apparent non-life-threatening injuries.

Three firearms were recovered at the scene, including a handgun recovered from the deceased male. Investigators are working to determine who was in possession of the other two handguns and what led to the gunfire.

“This was a very chaotic and dangerous situation, and I commend the officers who ran toward the gunfire in an effort to save lives,” said Chief O’Hara. “We want students, parents, and residents to know that they will see an immediate increase in police presence in this area, and that the Minneapolis Police Department will work with all our partners to keep everyone in this community safe.”

Forensic Scientists processed the scene and collected evidence.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage, canvassing, conducting interviews, and following up on leads.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased along with the official cause and manner of death.
