June 26, 2025 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara announced that MPD was notified a woman who was shot on June 22nd has died.
At approximately 10:40 p.m., on June 22nd, First Precinct officers responded to a shooting report at Hennepin Healthcare Hospital. After arriving at the hospital, officers spoke with two women who had transported themselves to the hospital. One of the women had an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The second woman had an apparent life-threatening gunshot wound. On June 25th, MPD was notified the second woman died at the hospital.
Preliminary information indicates the women were inside of a vehicle travelling on Interstate 394 WB near Penn Av when shots were fired into their vehicle. After they realized they had been struck by gunfire, they drove to the hospital.
“Two families have had their lives forever changed by gun violence,” said Chief O’Hara. “One of those families had hope that their loved one would recover and experienced further tragedy when that hope was lost. Our investigators will not let her family lose the hope that whoever is responsible will be brought to justice.”
MPD is investigating the circumstances around the shooting.
Minneapolis Forensic Scientists responded to process the scene.
No arrests have been made.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the woman's name, as well as the official cause and manner of death.
