June 20, 2025 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said one man is dead and another man is hospitalized after a late-night shooting.
At approximately 12:15 a.m., officers responded to 14th St/Nicollet Ave after reports of a shooting that was detected by ShotSpotter. Officers arrived and found two men who had been injured by gunfire. One man was transported by EMS to Hennepin Healthcare Hospital with apparent non-life-threatening injuries. Officers performed lifesaving measures including CPR on the second man, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary information indicates there was a gathering at the intersection before shots were fired. The person who fired shots fled the scene before officers arrived.
MPD is investigating the sequence of events that led up to the shooting.
”A family’s life has been forever changed by this unacceptable act of violence,” said Chief O’Hara. “As we enter the summer months, I urge everyone to find peaceful ways to resolve conflict. Every act of violence leaves a lasting impact—not just on those directly involved, but on our entire community.”
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the name of the deceased, along with the official cause and manner of death.
The case number is: 25-168142.
