Dear Minneapolis,
I’m reaching out to inform you of the severe weather we’re expecting this Monday afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service has issued a warning, predicting an unusually high risk of severe storms in our area—level 4 out of 5. This means we could experience tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds, and frequent lightning, with the greatest risk likely occurring this afternoon and evening.
Preparedness is key, and here are some important storm safety tips to help you stay safe:
-
Stay informed: Ensure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.
-
Take shelter quickly: If a warning is issued, seek immediate shelter in a basement or interior room on the lowest level of your home.
-
Secure outdoor items: Strong winds are expected, so bring in or secure any outdoor furniture or décor.
-
Clear storm drains: Help prevent flooding by removing leaves and debris from in front of catch basins to ensure proper drainage.
-
Prepare for power outages: Charge your devices and have a flashlight handy in case of an outage.
