UPDATE: St. Paul Police Arrest Man Wanted for Two Minneapolis Shootings

November 4, 2024 (MINNEAPOLIS) Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said that MPD was notified on November 3rd that the woman who was shot in the 4400 block between Hiawatha Ave and Snelling Ave died from her injuries at the hospital. Chief O’Hara said that Earl Bennett was charged today with three counts of Murder in relation to the shooting.

October 29, 2024 (MINNEAPOLIS) CORRECTION to the number of homicides and injured people listed at the end of the following statement: O'Hara said MPD shared information on the suspect after the two shooting incidents with law enforcement across the state. He also said MPD investigators will now work diligently with the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office to see appropriate criminal charges are filed and this man is held accountable for the two shootings in Minneapolis which involved two homicides and two injured people.

October 29, 2024 (MINNEAPOLIS) Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said today that St. Paul Police arrested a man wanted in connection with two shootings that occurred in Minneapolis. O'Hara said St. Paul Police Officers took the suspect into custody last night after responding to reports of shots fired near the Hamline-Midway neighborhood. St. Paul Police shot the man after he pointed a gun at officers, according to the St. Paul Police Department. The man remains hospitalized.  The two shootings in Minneapolis include one that occurred at a small homeless encampment on the 4400 block of Snelling Avenue on Sunday and a second one that happened on the 3500 block of Columbus Avenue on Monday.

BACKGROUND ON SHOOTINGS 

On October 28th, at approximately 5:15 p.m., officers from the 3rd Precinct responded to a shooting on the 3500 block of Columbus Avenue and located a man behind a neighboring address with at least one potentially-life-threatening gunshot wound.  That man was transported to Hennepin Healthcare Hospital.   Initial information indicated that additional shooting victims and the shooting suspect were possibly inside the address where the shooting occurred.  Officers cleared the residence.  There where were no additional victims, and the suspect was not inside the residence.  The GO# for the Columbus incident is 24-310769.

On October 27th, MPD officers from the 3rd Precinct responded to a triple shooting at a small homeless encampment located along the railroad tracks on the 4400 block between Hiawatha Avenue and Snelling Avenue.  Two men died at the scene and a woman was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries from that shooting. The Go# for the Snelling incident is 24-309683.
