September 2, 2024 (MINNEAPOLIS) At approximately 3:07 a.m., Third Precinct Officers responded to a shooting near Lake St and 13 Av S and located an adult man outside on a sidewalk with a life-threatening-gunshot wound. While officers provided immediate medical aid and worked to secure the scene, additional officers were requested to assist with an uncooperative and hostile crowd. Officers were able to disperse the crowd allowing EMS and Fire access to the scene. Despite all lifesaving efforts, the injured man died at the scene.
Preliminary information indicates that there was a group gathered in the area prior to shots being fired.
Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area.
MPD Forensic Scientists responded to process the scene.
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the deceased man’s name along with the cause and manner of death.
