August 15, 2024 (Minneapolis): Chief Brian O’Hara said that a few minutes before 2pm on Thursday August 14th, Third Precinct Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 2900 block of 12th Ave S. Officers arrived and found a man in his 20s with a fatal gunshot wound. EMS responded and the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
O’Hara reported that the man was with a group of people when an altercation occurred with another male and a shooting occurred.
“This is the first murder of the month of August.” Chief O’Hara said. “It’s difficult because it’s happened in broad daylight on a weekday afternoon and now there’s another family that’s here and is being torn apart by gun violence.”
Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area.
Minneapolis Investigators responded to the scene and are working to determine the sequence of events that led up to the shooting.
Minneapolis Crime Lab responded to process the scene.
There have been no arrests.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the deceased man’s name along with the cause and manner of death.
