July 16, 2024 (Minneapolis): On July 7th, 2024 at approximately 936 pm, Officers from the 4th Precinct responded to a ShotSpotter activation and the report of a shooting near Dowling Av N/Fremont Av N. Officers located a 17-year-old female seated in a vehicle with potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds. Officers provided medical aid until the injured female was transported to North Memorial Health. Later, a 30-year-old male with apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wounds related to this incident arrived at North Memorial Health in a passenger vehicle.
On July 12th, MPD was notified that the seventeen-year-old female died from her injuries at the hospital.
Preliminary information indicates that the injured teen was seated in the vehicle which was parked in a parking lot when the shooting occurred.
Officers secured the scene and canvased the area.
Forensic scientists from the Minneapolis Police Forensic Division responded to process the scene and collect evidence.
Minneapolis investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting and how the teenager and adult male are connected to the incident.
There have been no arrests.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has released the deceased female’s name and the cause and manner of death.
