May 29, 2024 (Minneapolis) Police Chief Brian O’Hara said Fourth Precinct Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation last night of four rounds on the sidewalk in the 400 block of 23rd Ave N. O’Hara said the officers arrived and found a man inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound and performed life saving measures before anyone called 911.
The victim was taken to the hospital last night. MPD was notified today that he died. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the name of the man along with the cause and manner of death.
Preliminary information indicates that he was in the vehicle with another adult and two children when shots were fired into the vehicle. The other adult and children were uninjured.
MPD is investigating the sequence of events that led up to the shooting and is working to determine if this was a targeted shooting. No arrests have been made.
MPD forensic scientists responded and processed the scene.
